Chargers continue to dominate, beat RCC/Norco 3-1

Gerrits fights through
a lose ball.
Cypress, CA - The Chargers play at home only for the second time this season and the sun and heat are no bother to them. The result is a 3-1 victory over Riverside/Norco and Cypress remains undefeated at 8-0-1 and 5-0 in conference play. Norco is the first conference team to score on the Chargers who outscore their opponents 17-1 in the OEC.

Kimberly Gonzalez finds the net at the 8-minute mark to put the Chargers on top 1-0, a pass from Kylie Redmond.  Norco responds at  the 26-minute on a corner kick that sails over GK Michelle Mendez to lock the game at 1-1. Two teams battling evenly until the 53-minute when Monique Gerrits is fouled inside Norco's goal box and is awarded a PK. Gerrits places the ball to the right side of the net for a Charger 2-1 lead. At the 89-minute, Thania Valencia finds the sweet spot of the net assist courtesy of Reyna Jacome to close out the deal at 3-1.

The Chargers host Golden West on Oct 2.
